When high-tech meets tradition

In today’s high-speed industrialised world, the art of slow crafting is firmly reclaiming ground. Good craftsmanship requires years of experience and an artisan’s deep knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of raw materials. The ability to harmonise craftmanship with modern ways of production without losing the authenticity of natural resources, is exactly what makes Manutti stand out.

A different ‘teak’ on quality

A different ‘teak’ on quality

At Manutti, we use only superior-quality teak wood sourced from ecological plantations in Indonesia. The trees may take up to 60 or 80 years to mature, resulting in slats that can stretch from 3,5 metres long. Using pioneering techniques, our experienced artisans manually refine and treat the carefully selected timber. To craft our signature black teak furniture, they carefully apply a glossy or matte finish, giving the pieces their striking glow.

Stay in tune with the off-black trend this season with Flows, Solid or Torsa in brushed teak nero, a technique whereby we manually sand, brush and treat the wood with black stain on a polyurethane base. Due to the coarse-grained structure of teak, the stain penetrates only 1 to 2 mm into the wood. As a final treatment, a finish is applied. This agent fixes the stain between the primer and the surface and prevents the stain from evaporating or being washed away by the rain.

In our quest to add more luxury to every outdoor experience, we are introducing teak scuro, our brand new oil-based matte black finish. The natural textures and imperfections of brushed teak wood are still visible, as showcased by Cobi and Tsuki, Manutti’s newest range of coffee and side tables. This treatment not only nourishes and protects furniture, but it is also completely eco-friendly.
